Je regrette que je n’aie pas vu cette pièce du theatre, présenté maintenant à Paris. Un jour, qui sais, pourquoi pas? Basé par la nouvelle d’Emmanuel Dongala, ecrivain d’origine congolais, le spectacle mélange l’histoire de saxophoniste fabuleux avec l’histoire des années 60 dans les Etats-Units et du mouvement du Black Power. Pour la première fois, j’ai passé des expositions au Musée du Quai Branly, le batiment censément controverse. Bof… Il faut pas juger parmi les goûtes, on seulement pourra décrire qu’est ce que se trouve au milieu de cet Musée. Maintenant on peut visiter des expositions consecrées aux répresentations de sexualité dans la culture des amérindiens. Quand même on devra passer par les collections de toutes les cultures primitifs d’Afrique, d’Océanie et des Americas. De plus, récemment l’attention est attirée sur les objets indiens. Paris en un clin d’oeil

Encore une fois, j’ai visité Paris pour le week-end (des Paques). Cette une, grâce à l’ouverture d’un connexion des lignes budget entre Poznan et Beauvais j’ai consacré pour visiter les lieux qui je n’avais pas vu avant. C’est à dire: l’autre fois, j’ai sauté le quatrième et la onzième arrondissement où se trouvent les fameux: place de Vosges et canaux St. Martin. Et même si le temps faisait en peu mauvais, on n’y a jamais ennuié à Paris!

NYE on the Costa Blanca

Some people try to catch the occassions, some people don’t. I believe I do. Booked my return ticket for 1 euro, bought another one way for less than 40, and decided to spend my NYE in Alicante, Spain. For sure, I trusted for the good weather, which to me means sun, breeze, cca. 20 degrees PLUS. For good cuisine, such as paellas, tortillas, fresh seafood, etc… Last, but not least, I hoped that the NYE party will be thrown with a typical Spanish, or Valencian to be strict, character. I imagined laughing and dancing people on the streets of Alicante, drinking cava in enormous quantities and speaking/shouting very loudly. My expectations were met 66%. Definitely, I spent NYE in such a sunny way for the first time in my life and it was an original idea. I am a winter hater, so this idea was perfect for me. Food? No paella, had to satisfy myself with tortilla server among Turkish food. The only opened resto in the evening belonged to Turkish family, and was particular for serving multiculti dishes. And what’s more, I had an impression that at this place, you could meet all kinds of Alicante’s inhabitants. Arabs, Turqs, Russians, the elderly, whores, man with their NYE-one night lovers, newly fell in love… Everybody calling themselves friendly “cono” (“puss” in Spanish, a popular form among fellas). While the streets in the centre were almost empty. No matter if it was 10 pm or 2 am, I couldn’t see a party-party going on. People (and teenagers) were walking slowly and peacefully in tuxedos or black dresses. No touch of stereotypical “la vida loca”. However, Alicante itself was fascinating with its white clifs, castles, old town, grand bleu Mediterrenean sea and not surprisingly, Algierian accents. Worth visiting, yet not necessarily for a “crazy NYE!”.

Wrocław, on the way to Spain

Travelling from another city that you live in has undoubtedly an asset. If only have some time, you may re-discover the “domestic” routes. On my way to Spanish Alicante I have spent some time in Wroclaw, considered nowadays as one of the most developping and prospective cities in Poland. Having visited Wroclaw for many reasons before, but not: sightseeing, finally I could wander around. Wroclaw, the 4th biggest city in Poland is, in fact, one of the wealthest. Nearby Odra river banks and its numerous islands, there are things to see: like Ossolineum, Cathedral, countless, magnificent churches… And the Old Town. In my humble opinion, almost as impressive as the Cracovian. Moreover, Wroclaw is something more than another big, old city of Poland, with complicated history and a lot of churches. There is, however, a treat for non-believers. Next to Old Market, there is a little house with a sculpture on its walls showing ‘DIY of Jesus’ crucifixion’. A rare piece to see in such a religious country. And nightlife… Droga do Mekki, as well as other clubs in the centre offer a great variety of sounds to consume in the night. However, situated in the building of the old Swiebodzki Station (Dworzec Świebodzki), there is cult pub Wagon with a lot of rail accesories. During summer, supposedly, there is a possibility to drink in an old wagon outside! There is also a one must to see when in Wroclaw: its Main Station. Full of mysteries and weird spots…

what a year for techno heads

A heave selection of 10 tracks which have either blown my speakers or were not deleted from my playlist after a month in 2009. It would have been too difficult to select 10 track of the decade as during that time so many things occurred.

All I have to admit is that this summer, as well as 2006, we the minimal techno people were offered truly deep, milestone tracks! Wish 2010 and years to come would come up with even more juicy productions : )

Not only the end of year approaches, but also the end of the 1st decade of 21st century. I feel that there haven’t been much said about to whom belongs the title of the best bedtime track (I absolutely love the Polish name for it -> pościelówa : ). Sure, there will be no other Stevie Wonders, no much Barry Whites nor Earth, Wind & Fire. But I guess there are some that need to be recalled. Tightened up my selekshan… the best 10 for this category of last 10 years imo:

Supposedly one of the best DJs in da house (literally, when come to really deep house music, Dutch DJs are unbeatable!)… Missed him in August when Audioriver took place without me, now I’m sending some excerpts from his performance in SQ, Poznan. I’m giving him 7 out of 10, as I’m not convinced to the genre, but full of respect for Joris of how he made the audience crazy (doesn’t happen in blazé SQ club too often ; ).

reminiscenza di Roma

Last reminiscences of the city. After a few days spent, having thrown the coin in Di Trevi fountain I left the city. Wanting to say ‘no more goodbyes’ to Rome, one of the most thriving cities I’ve ever seen. Maybe Roisin Murphy will do it instead. But even goodbye in Italian, with American accent make you wanna laugh (see: ‘Inglorious Bastards’ better-than-bingo-scene). Areeve’dertchi then : )
